Estimator
Valid through October 31, 2021
Qualifications:
5+ years of Department of Transportation, Local, or Federal Government estimating experience (roadway, highway, infrastructure, DOT, toll road, freeway, transportation, bridges).
10+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
Proven track record of estimating $5,000,000+ projects.
Duties:
Research and find projects for the company.
Review proposal specifications, plans, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
Perform Risk and Contract Management responsibilities as required, review/incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and labor figures.
Review final estimate and apply strategic cost factors if necessary.
Prepare bids, select vendors and subcontractors, and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid.
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Notice and resolve differences between estimated cost and actual cost.
Assist in hiring jobsite workers and crews.
Obtain permits or approval of revisions.
Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost or availability of materials.
Understand project and appropriate regulations required to meet affirmative action requirements and DBE requirements, review list of work to be performed by subcontractors.
Review final estimates.
Prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid. Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example.
Perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), MS Project and Primavera Scheduling software.
Working knowledge of civil engineering principles.
Working knowledge of construction principles.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Description
Responsible for managing construction projects.
Review project requirements and milestones and schedule projects in logical steps and budget time required to meet set deadlines.
Work and confer with client's managers as well as with project engineers, mechanical engineers, architects, financial & other profiles.
Closely follow project schedule and deal with any delays.
Supervise civil engineers, architects, superintendents, & laborers.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineer or closely related.
5 years experience in job offered or as General Manager, Project Manager, or closely related.
Approximately 40% of travel to client sites within the states of TX required.
